Psalm 136
Oh give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good:
for his mercy endureth forever
Oh give thanks unto the God of gods:
for his mercy endureth forever
Oh give thanks unto the Lord of lords:
for his mercy endureth forever
To him who alone doeth great wonders:
for his mercy endureth forever
To him that by wisdom made the heavens:
for his mercy endureth forever
To him that stretched out the earth above the waters:
for his mercy endureth forever
To him that made great lights:
for his mercy endureth forever
The sun to rule by day:
for his mercy endureth forever
The moon and stars to rule by night:
for his mercy endureth forever
To him that smote Egypt in their firstborn:
for his mercy endureth forever
And brought out Israel from among them:
for his mercy endureth forever
With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm:
for his mercy endureth forever
To him which divideth the Red Sea into parts:
for his mercy endureth forever
And made Israel to pass through the midst of it:
for his mercy endureth forever
But overthrew Pharoah and his host in the Red Sea:
for his mercy endureth forever
To him which which led his people through the wilderness:
for his mercy endureth forever
To him which smote great kings:
for his mercy endureth forever
And slew famous kings:
for his mercy endureth forever
Shinon king of the Amorites:
for his mercy endureth forever
And Og the king of Bashan:
for his mercy endureth forever
And gave their land for an heritage:
for his mercy endureth forever
Even an heritage unto Israel his servant:
for his mercy endureth forever
Who remembered us in our low estate:
for his mercy endureth forever
And hath redeemed us from our enemies:
for his mercy endureth forever
Who giveth food to all flesh:
for his mercy endureth forever
O give thanks unto the God of heaven:
for his mercy endureth forever
O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever….
….O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth forever.
for his mercy endureth forever….

noun
noun: mercy; plural noun: mercies
compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm.
God in His mercy has provided a way through the shed blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem the vilest of sinners! His mercy continues and is available to all who accept Him! I find such hope and comfort in the history of God’s mercy as He brought the Israelites out of Egypt. But I am especially blessed with the knowledge that His mercy isn’t merely historical… it is current and ongoing in every situation just as it was documented in each and every verse of Psalms 136.
No matter what comes your way today… as you struggle to get through the challenges of the day… his mercy endureth forever!
When your heart aches over poor choices a loved one is making… his mercy endureth forever!
When you or a loved one has received the dreaded news, “you have cancer”… his mercy endureth forever!
When you’ve had to say earthly “goodbyes” to someone so precious to you… his mercy endureth forever!
When fear of the unknown grips you so tight it is hard to breathe, Dear Friend… his mercy endureth forever!
What a relief it is to know God’s mercy is eternal… it outlasts my struggles, it is a balm for my heart aches, it comforts me when I hear bad news, it fills the hole left in my heart when dear ones have departed, and it brings such peace and calm when the fears of this world get out of hand. What a blessing it is to know that God’s mercy is not only eternal… but it is new every morning!
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul: therefore will I hope in him. The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3:22-26
