Ever Changing

It has been mind boggling how quickly life has been changing! One week ago we heard the news that a national emergency had been declared. During this week we have gone from the maximum number of 250 people allowed in a gathering to 50 people to 10 people to sheltering at home! Schools had added 1 extra week to their Spring Break, then planned to be closed until the end of March, and now they may possibly re-open after the first week of April. Colleges and Universities have gone to online classes only for the rest of the semester. Restaurant dining rooms are closed, and only those with a drive through or offering curbside pick up remain open. Grocery stores shelves are bare as people are buying everything out of sheer panic. Many stores have reduced their open hours as they need time to disinfect the store and restock the shelves. Stores selling goods other than groceries have had to limit their hours and now close their doors during the shelter in place order. All entertainment and recreation businesses are closed. All non-essential service businesses – nail and hair salons are closed. Churches are no longer meeting in person to worship, many are holding worship services online. Days have been filled with national press conferences, state press conferences, and local press conferences to update the public on the COVID 19 pandemic.

Constantly changing circumstances bring out fear of the unknown. As frightening as all of these changes are, and as unsettling as the unknown can be, we must not lose hope! As this ever changing world seems to spin out of control, the Creator of this world is still in control! While these changes may take me by surprise, our merciful, unchanging God is never surprised! The unknown of tomorrow and the unknown of the COVID 19 pandemic causes fear, but it is what I know that is so important. I know that God is in control! While I don’t understand the purpose for everything that is happening, I know He has a plan and a purpose! Throughout this ever changing time, I know that God is with me, and He will not fail me nor leave me!

Such peace and comfort in these ever changing days can only come from God. How about you? Do you know the true source of hope and peace to help you through the unknowns of tomorrow? Please don’t allow fear and panic rule you in the days ahead! Put your faith and trust in the One who is in control, the One who holds all of our tomorrows!
