It is Friday! The winding down of another week.
Many of us have had a blessed week… I have friends who became new parents/grandparents, some who are thankful to have finished a round of rough treatments, another friend started a new job, and some who are enjoying time away on vacation!
Have you thanked God for how He blessed you this week?
And then there are those whose week didn’t turn out quite like they had hoped… some with mixed blessings like the safe, but early, delivery of precious twins one of whom is struggling to survive, another friend whose chemo treatments have made an improvement in symptoms, but a new issue has now come up, and there is the one whose home sold quickly, but who now faces a delay in the new place being ready to move into.
Are we thanking God for ALL He does for us… the good things and the things we don’t understand? As you ask Him to make the hurtful situations better, ask for wisdom to understand and deal with the hurt you are experiencing.
I also have some friends who have experienced an extremely difficult, hurtful week… ones who have said their final earthly ‘good byes’ to a precious loved one, some who have gotten the devastating news of a heartbreaking diagnosis knowing that a tough battle is about to begin, others who have conditions that have been so intense this week they have not been able to complete simple, everyday tasks, and there are those friends who are battling things others can’t always see… discouragement, loneliness, depression, addiction.
Friend, don’t be afraid to cry out to God in your hurt and suffering! He longs to hear from you!
Time can’t heal all wounds… But God can! Trust Him with your hurt!
Consider what the Bible tells us about hurt and suffering in a few favorite passages. Read these verses and choose one or two to write out. Keep that note handy and read the verse(s) often throughout the day. Better yet, memorize it so you always have it with you when you need it! He will help heal your hurt, He has for me, and I know He will for you!
Psalm 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
Psalm 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
Proverbs 3:5,6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Philippians 4:6,7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Don’t Lose Hope!
Romans 15:14 Now the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
I pray no matter what your weekend may bring that the hope and peace only God can give will soothe and heal your hurts!
