Behold, I Stand at the Door

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
if any man hear my voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, I do believe You exist… And I will call on You when I need You, but not right now.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, I have 3 tests this week and an assignment due for school.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, once graduation is over I will have more time.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, I have a decision to make between two job offers.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, I think I have met “the one” and we are busy getting to know each other.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, there is so much to get done before the wedding!

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, I will have more time after the honeymoon.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, this morning sickness has gotten me down.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, I am busy with doctor appointments and getting the nursery ready.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, running a household and chasing a toddler…  well You understand.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, between getting the kids off to school, going to work, preparing supper, helping with homework, laundry, and getting ready for bedtime, hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, school sports and music lessons will be over soon.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, I have to finish Christmas shopping, wrapping, and baking cookies.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, things will slow down in the New Year.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, as soon as the weather is better… it will be Spring soon, and I’ll make time for You then.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, I should have some free time during Spring Break.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
I’m sorry, Lord, I’m so frightened! A pandemic? I don’t understand what is happening in the world! I am so afraid! People are sick and some are dying! Please keep my family well! I am so scared! The store shelves are empty! Please supply our needs! I live in fear! My job is temporarily suspended! Lord, help me provide for my family! I am so frightened!
Where are You, Lord?
Don’t you see what I am going through?!?

And now, we must stay at home… no school, no work, no sports!
How long will this last? Lord? Lord?
I’m sorry, Lord, I am so afraid! Where are You, Lord?

Our lives are constantly changing and our roles are continually evolving! Each role comes with its own set of responsibilities. Days melt into weeks. Weeks melt into months. Months melt into years. One thing remains the same… God never changes! His unfailing love is just that… unfailing!! He is waiting… knocking on your heart’s door. No matter what you have put before God… school, work, family, responsibilities, busyness… He is waiting! And now, you have all the time in the world…

Be still, and know that I am God… Psalm 46:10

My Friend, He wants your undivided attention! Spend time with Him! Read His Word! Pour out your heart to Him in prayer! Hear His voice… He will never leave you or forsake you!

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
if any man hear my voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20

  1. I loved this, Deb! It is so true! I think God is trying to tell us to slow down and focus on Him. He created us to have a love relationship with Him and He desires that more than ever and sent His only son to suffer excruciating pain and die on the cross for that. He is crying out, “Be still and know that I am God!”

    1. I agree Carrie! Like any parent, He wants to hear from us , to listen to us, and to guide us! And as only our Heavenly Father can do… He has the power and He truly can and does make everything better! We just need to slow down long enough and tune our hearts toward Him! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Love you!
